Trash culture: journey to the limits of taste

A product of trash culture is, in its essence, a piece of rubbish with has a certain attraction. Which is the same as saying: a piece of work in which mistakes are transformed into a fundamental resource. This much is demonstrated in the exhibition at the Contemporary Culture Centre in Barcelona that in pushing the limits of good taste attempts to improve the aesthetic level of a number of objects (as well as films, music, TV programmes) that would be considered aberrations by official culture.

The curator, Jordi Costa, offers a journey (ironic and critical) through excess and distortion which excels itself in that empire of trash – television. The exhibition concludes with a gallery of everyday objects and an audio visual summary of a day in the life of an average person who, more or less consciously, has a trash lifestyle.
