A seven month long festival running from the beginning of April to the end of October, totally dedicated to design. This much is offered by the Saline in Arc et Senans, the complex designed by visionary architect Claude Nicolas Ledoux in 1700, 3 kilometres from Besançon.
Amongst the many events planned, in collaboration with the VIA (Valorisation de l’Innovation dans l’Ameublement) and the IFA (French institute for architecture), an exhibition dedicated to the work of a hundred young international designers (“Génération 2003”, from 29 April to 31 October), the itinerant exhibition “Mobi Découverte” (from May to October) – 48 prototypes which have arisen from work carried out in groups by schoolchildren, designers and production companies – and “Les jardins du design” (from June to October), where the students are invited to create new gardens playing with objects and vegetation, colours of buildings, sounds and light.
“A la recherche de la cité idéale” (from June to October), in collaboration with the Vitra foundation is a homage to major architects and designers of the twentieth century, a selection of those who have excelled in the design of architectural interiors.
