Nonino: design as a way of life
A very Italian business spirit, which generally speaking does not renounce the search for beauty. In the shop windows of via Montenapoleone in Milan, the hundred year old company from Friuli, producer of Nonino grappa, is presenting the 2002 collection of Cru Monovitigno Picolit, held in precious bottles designed by Luca Cendali and hand made by the Venini glass makers in Murano in blown glass. They also incorporate an antique method of working in which three threads of air are held in the glass and enriched with three coloured straws which represent ‘Guna’, according to Hindu alchemy, primordial energy in its three elements.
This forms the latest piece of the collections of a thousand bottles made each year since 1984 by Venini, Baccarat and Riedel.
At the presentation, which included traditional songs with pecorino cheese, grappa and honey, were a number of personalities from show business, publishing and manufacturing such as Lella Costa, Rosellina Archinto, Cesare Romiti, Diego Della Valle, Natalia Aspesi and Gad Lerner.
