Time to move: watches by Mandarina Duck

Italian brand Mandarina Duck and Japanese multinational, Seiko have joined forces. The result is a collection of watches where the casing resembles the shape of a vase, giving rise to the name ‘vaso del tempo’ (for both men and women). Another model features an original system of closure where the urethane strap is fixed to the watch casing (as in the case of the ‘cappuccio’ model for women). The collection - created in synthetic urethane resin or steel and available in seven different colours – aims at dynamism, simplicity and fun.

Altogether a fertile period for initiatives from the Bologna based company which, set up in 1977 is making great leaps forward: the Milan store has recently been revamped, two shops have opened in Bologna and Florence and shortly to open are around twenty others in as many European cities.

At the recent Milan Furniture Fair they presented “Murano”, by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, the first bag to be baked in a kiln with a technique similar to that used by the Venetian glass makers. Other new items coming up are a line of jewellery “Ducks” made up of eighteen pieces including bracelets, necklaces, chains, pendants, rings, brooches and earrings, all in silver enamelled in red, black and blue.
