Opos “under 35” Competition 2002
Also for 2002, concurrently with the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Opos will present the usual exposition of prototypes conceived of and produced by technical designers who are under 35 (born after January 1, 1966). In it's 12th edition, the show's scope is to rate the research and creations of young designers from all parts of the world and that will be the result of a selection process carried out by a chosen group of sector professionals. And that constitutes a point of reference, be it for the proposal of interesting examples of experimentation, be it for the enterprises who have transformed projects presented at the Opas show into successful products.
Next year's edition, in particular, will be characterized by something new stated on the competition poster, the indication that the maximum volume of the disassembled and packaged-up object be: 0.25 m3. The measurement limit has been established as a common denominator for the designers who participate in the Opos Under 35 competition-show and which synthetically expresses Opos' project vision. Folding, packaging and transportation are fundamental components often overlooked in the conception of an object. Seen in this way, this limitation is intended to stimulate the designers' attention towards themes such as "unpackaging" the object in ecological terms, lightness and compactability for an evolved logistic, and performance quality tied to the innovative use of materials and constructive solutions.
It's possible to participate with a maximum of three original, never-before-seen projects. The projects can be delivered or sent beginning October 15, 2001, and must arrive by and not past January 15, 2002, to: Opos, via Ermenegildo Cantoni 3, 20156 Milano.
Authors of selected projects will be contacted by February 15, 2002 and must supply the prototypes to be exhibited by March 31, 2002. Info: contact@opos.it
