Following the first anthology inaugurated in 1998, the gallery Gio' Marconi presents, from May 30 to the end of July, a series of recent works by the Atelier Van Lieshout work group (AVL), the lab directed by the Belgian artist-designer Joep van Lieshout. Antimoralist and subversive, his works are made with beer cases, to arrive at real containers for abortions and enigmatic prefabs, with a design found at the antipodes of Minimalism. A design therefore suitable for everyday life and, at the same time, for the great problems of modern society. His work is made of functional art to be used as best one can. "Atelier van Lieshout" was born in 1995 and has since had a very intense program of shows, also at the international level. Presently there are two personal shows running at PS1 in New York and at the Jack Tilton Gallery in New York. In May he presented "AVL-Ville" at the Stichting Museum of Rotterdam, a show that is also now in Milan with the show "Anteprima Bovisa. Milan - Europa 2000" at PAC and the Triennale. He will also participate at "Sonsbeek 9" in Arnhem, at "Art Unlimited" at Basil and at the Biennale of Venice. At the MACBA show in Barcelona he will participate with a work titled “The Un-private House” and at the “Plug-in. Unity and Mobility” show in Munich.
