The exhibition
organised by the
Fondazione Prada
at the Fondazione
Giorgio Cini claims to
be the “biggest and
most exhaustive”
ever to be held on
the American artist
John Wesley and his
complex language,
associated with
Pop Art for his use
of comic-strip
and advertising
photographs, but
also with the Minimal
Art of Donald Judd
and Dan Flavin,
with references
to Japanese
iconography and Art
Nouveau. Curated
by Germano Celant,
the exhibition
takes a historic
approach, bringing
together more than
150 works from
private collections
and prestigious
international
museums with the
aim of highlighting
his subtle taste for
the humorous and
surreal side of life. E.S.
