A collection of works by 13 artists from the
1960s onwards who have worked with collage.
The exhibition at the Galleria Francesca
Kaufmann in Milan includes work by
Candice Breitz, Frances Stark, David
Maljkovic, Pae White and others, all
made by cutting, overlaying and assembling
fragments which are always used
to explore different aspects of reality
and human physiognomy. Artists such
as Maljkovic, White, Nicole Wermers and
Goshka Macuga use collage as a way of
analysing physical spaces, a technique
often used in architectural design (especially
in the age before renderings).
Also on show are collages made
in the 1960s by Carlo Mollino and
Riccardo Moncalvo, which show how
the reverse process is also possible,
from instrumental use to expressive. S.M.
