Described as the most complete exhibition on Andy Warhol ever to be shown in Italy, “The Andy Warhol Show”, curated by Gianni Mercurio and Daniela Morera, has opened at the Triennale in Milan. Warhol emerges as a highly eclectic artist; a revolutionary not just in terms of art but also in graphic design, communication and fashion. Painter, photographer, film maker, writer, editor, life and soul of New York society but above all a great communicator; with the invention of the Factory, Warhol invented a radically new way of making art, based on communication and collaboration.
On show, 200 paintings, photographs, graphic designs, films, drawings and early illustrations for fashion magazines. Amongst the lesser known material, a documentary by Daniela Morera (a friend of Warhol and director of the European edition of Interview for 25 years) with an exclusive look at an auction of the artist’s collections, a video by Lana Jokel who interviews an unusually talkative Warhol and a series of tracks taken from Andy Warhol TV and Factory Diaries.
