The French studio Collectif Etc has created a panoramic belvedere, reusing a traditional residence’s wooden structure. Commissioned by the Ecomusée d'Alsace, the project is a new landmark in the agricultural landscape of Oberhausbergen, France. The wooden framework has been dismantled and reassembled together with four trunks coming from the ecomuseum. A secondary skeleton, a balcony and an access gangway have been constructed using another type of wood. In this way the heterogeneity of the structure is enhanced, but it does not look like a patchwork of different elements. Following the approach of Collectif Etc, the construction of the belvedere was shared with the residents and young volunteers.
