Daniela Uribe: Cantagua House

A holiday house along the Chilean coast completely blends in with its striking surroundings, articulating itself into three volumes that correspond to the site's topography.

Chilean architect Daniela Uribe has recently completed a single family house in Cantagua, along the coast of Chile. Intended as a holiday house, the volume is located in an extraordinary site, overlooking the ocean. Three geometric volumes react to the site's topography, creating a strong connection with the surroundings. One main volume serves as a base and connector between the remaining two, and harbours the entrance of the house in the ground floor.

A suspended volume contains the living room, dining room and one of the bedrooms, and all of its front faces the ocean. The remaining service areas and the kitchen are located in the third volume. The building's northern façade is open and transparent, while in its southern side, the house is closed, creating more privacy for its residents and regulating internal temperature.

The building also features a guest rooms, spa and other service areas under the main patio entrance, which is separated from the house by two courtyards. These allow for light and ventilation in each space, and unify separate volumes. This unification if further completed with the interior design and its details, as all ceilings, furnitures, doors and handles follow the same design criteria.
