All this prompts the question: what link is there between forms of energy and architecture? All around the world, architecture is taking up this challenge.
Domus and ENEA are rallying architects to send in designs – of small or urban scale –, constructed or still on the drawing board - addressing this theme. Projects that override the disciplinary gap between scientific research and architectural culture and that see energy not merely as a technical issued solved at the last minute but part of the architectural design from conception. This is essential if we are to have a new architectural aesthetic that responds to the demands of a future that is already here.
The designs sent will form a collection of case studies discussed on domusweb by Alessandra Scognamiglio, researcher and architect (ENEA) and Marialuisa Palumbo, architecture critic.
