Cassi Ramelli: eclectics and reason
In the centenary of his birth, an extensive retrospective curated by Elisabetta Susani describes the life and work of Antonio Cassi Ramelli (1905-1980). Scholar, professor of military architecture and writer, the Milanese architect interpreted and designed for major Lombard clients, creating for them both public and private buildings, commercial spaces for Alemagna, the interiors of the Peck delicatessen, and the headquarters of Assicurazioni Generali.
The event is sponsored by the Associazione Cassi Ramelli and puts on show to the public for the first time material from the family archive: drawings, paintings, design objects, written and theoretical work produced during the course of his life. Black and white reportage, created specially for the occasion by Gabriele Basilico, offers instead an interesting series of images.
To complete the exhibition the catalogue and a film of Cassi Ramelli’s major buildings in Milan will be shown as part of a series entitled “L’Architettura della città” (at the Teatro Gnomo in Milan from September 20 to 25): with films that describes Milan in the 1950s and 1960s. E.S.
