Open House London
Forty-eight hours in which to see, explore and understand London’s architecture. For just one weekend a year, the London Open House Charity opens the doors of more than 500 buildings all over the capital. Private homes, embassies, historic residences, and art and culture spaces – even buildings usually closed to the public such as Norman Foster’s “gherkin” (which last year was taken by siege, with queues up to a mile long). Completing the programme is a large number of encounters with architects, historians and engineers, who will greet visitors and answer questions on the projects and their construction. E.S.
