A Niteroi un nuovo progetto di Niemeyer

Despite having celebrated his 98th birthday, a 70-year-long career and nearly 600 buildings constructed all over the world, Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer seems to have no intention of retiring. He recently accepted a new commission for the construction (by 2008) of a tourist complex on the edge of Brasilia, in Niteroi where Niemeyer has already built the museum of contemporary art.

The tourist village ought – according to the head of the town’s tourist office – to complete the amenities on the Rio de Janeiro bay. The 5.5 million euro budget ought to cover the construction of six buildings, a theatre and a cinema complex. E.S.
