The exhibition on the design for the extension of the IVAM (Institut Valencià d’Art Modern) opens on February 19th in Valencia. It will be the public’s first opportunity to ‘unveil’ the new museum’s face, and for visitors to the exhibition to express their opinion about the museum’s future.
Responsible for the new work are the Japanese Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, who were commissioned last April to design the 10 thousand square metres that will be added to the existing space (20 thousand square metres). The extension includes 9 new exhibition rooms, a library and storage facilities.
The deadlines. By October a final plan will be submitted, with work scheduled to begin in 2004 for completion in 2006.
