December 21 at 21.00 sees the opening concert for the new Sala d’Onore at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia dell’Auditorium in Rome – the 2880 seater hall at the Parco della Musica – designed by Renzo Piano. An official event which places the final word on the much discussed project by the Italian architect, the building of which began in 1996.

The Orchestra and Choir of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Myung-Whun Chung and with Maurizio Pollini playing piano, will perform three new works commissioned specially for the occasion by The Accademia di Santa Cecilia.

The following day, Sunday 22 at 11.00 (also at the Auditorium), Piano and Luciano Berio will talk about "Architecture and Music".
