In Rome, the Bruno Zevi Foundation for Architecture is born

The foundation for architecture named after Bruno Zevi (1918-2000) officially opens on September 29th. The address? That of the historic offices of the journal “L’Architettura cronache e storia”, founded by Zevi in 1955.

Among its objectives and initiatives – besides honouring the memory of a great master and his contribution as a critic, historian and thinker – is that of encouraging and backing research in architecture, town-planning and landscape design.

The programme is dense with initiatives. Most important will be the opening to the public of the Zevi library and archives, containing photographs, books, magazines and other material available for consultation. After that, an International Architecture prize is to be established, while links with other institutions are being forged to organise conferences, seminars and cultural events.

The Foundation’s very distinguished advisory committee will include some of the best-known names in the world of international culture: from Umberto Eco to Franck O. Gehry and from Luciano Berio to Furio Colombo, from Zaha Hadid and Renzo Piano to Rita Levi Montalcini.
