Portughese architect Gonzalo Byrne is the winner of the international competition run by the Comune di Milano for redesigning the green area north east of the city.

Byrne and his team, chosen from ten finalists, will now take the design of Parco Forlanini to working drawings stage, whilst the work will then take around ten years. The area amounts in total to around three million square metres (110 hectares) and the cost will be around 47 million Euro.
