Six young architects at the CCA in Montréal
An initiative launched by the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) in Montreal continues, from November 2001 to September 2002 they have put their programme of exhibitions and “standard” cultural events on hold in order to transform the centre into a real architectural laboratory working with ideas from six local young architects. As a result of the tragic events of 11 September, the Centre ceased their regular activity to respond to the widespread need for a place in which to reflect and, in joining together, where to begin to take action in the face of uncertainty. It takes on the notion that architecture does not generate just spaces, but also ideas and potential.
The six selected candidates – Atelier Big City, Atelier BRAQ, Atelier in Situ, Bosses design, BUILD and Pierre Thibault – alternating actual design with discussion and debates open to the public, have put together a series of installations within the museum which will be on show until the middle of September.
The focal point of the initiative is a forum and public event planned for Saturday 14 September with.
