New project by Foster for Hong Kong

Foster and Partners are the practice who are to transform the skyline along the seafront in Hong Kong in the West Kowloon district, with a new multi-million pound project for an arts and entertainment centre. The design by Sir Norman Foster – who is also responsible for the nearby Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank as well as the airport – was the winning scheme in an international competition.

The project includes an arts centre, theatres, concert halls, art gallery, cinema, shops and restaurants to be built on the seafront facing the port on a site covering 40 hectares. The first part is due for completion in 2008.
