Njiric + Njiric
Opening on 3 February is an exhibition dedicated to Helena Njiric (1963) and Hrvoie Njiric (1960), a young couple of Croatian architects who live and work in Zagreb.
The exhibition illustrates an interesting approach to work: the initial idea is always reduced to a diagram (plan and elevation), from which the possible options emerge clearly and simply, ready to be developed and applied. Central to their work is a surprising use of colour, which creates an additional level of communication. In the Baumaxx supermarket in Maribor (Slovenia) the use of yellow on the outside creates a strong contrast with the red of the logo with the idea of reinforcing the company identity: red and yellow together is typically associated with the cheap and low budget.
In just a few years, the couple have already received an prizes and awards at an international level, including Europan 3 (1994) and Europan 4 (1996). Inspired by the garden city and attempting to propose a guide for environmental design of the future Njiric + Njiric with a critical eye translate new lifestyles in the spirit of the 21st century.
