Hotel Caroline

Located in a former industrial district of Vienna, this hotel by BWM Architekten features a rugged brick facade and refined interiors reminiscent of Viennese Modernism.

Hotel Caroline is located in the heart of Favoriten, a former industrial district of Vienna. The hotel’s facade is clad with bricks, allowing it to blend in perfectly with the district’s many historical red brick buildings, some of which even housed brickworks in past times.

The hotel’s design concept is tailored to the distinctive character of this exceptional location, and behind the rugged facade is a comfortable and refined interior reminiscent of Viennese Modernism. The floor-to-ceiling windows with exterior folding shutters made of natural maritime pine add a metropolitan touch. The new structure is a corner building that connects the two existing parts of the hotel and is accessed via a central courtyard.

This five-floor building houses 27 rooms. All rooms in the hotel are spacious double rooms with custom-made solid wood furniture. The floors are made of dark, oiled oak parquet with a large-scale chevron pattern. Classic Thonet bentwood chairs call to mind the Vienna of the fin de siècle and round off the look. Viennese design can also be found in the choice of lamps: white glass pendant lights hanging from the ceiling and stylish floor lamps, as well as custom-made reading lights at the bed headboards and desk lamps made from matte brass.
