Domus India, June–July 2017
This edition of Domus India focuses on how architecture, while on the threshold of change, risks as being reduced to the decorative arts unless those involved in the practice and profession of architecture accept its inherent politics.

This issue further reflects upon the tropes of botany and zoology, expanding them through the lens of an exhibition held at the IFA Gallery in Stuttgart, Germany, in two ways --- firstly, the colonial history of institutions such as world expositions, gardens and museums, where they become sites for knowledge-production, and secondly, by exploring the recent history of the hyper-relationship with nature via issues such as sustainability, nature trails, wildlife and so forth.

Moreover, through a project involving a house designed in New Delhi, the issue delves into the questions addressing urban clutter, the context of location, and dealing with privacy and chaos in a neighbourhood. In another example of a housing project, located in Lonavala (a town near Mumbai), an emphasis is laid upon the optimisation and maximisation of available space, attempting to provide a range of habitation, material, and design options – elements that the current housing market rarely offers – thereby allowing a sense of shared dwelling that is congruously connected yet sufficiently private.
