Il Design Museum ha annunciato i candidati del Beazley Designs of the Year

Il Design Museum di Londra ha annuciato la selezione dei partecipanti al decimo anniversario del suo premio annuale, che con una grande mostra celebra il meglio del design contemporaneo.

Pokémon Go, mobili IKEA, la bandiera olimpica dei rifugiati e la campagna contro la Brexit di Wolfgang Tillmans; il Design Museum di Londra ha annunciato i concorrenti della decima edizione del Beazley Designs of the Year. La mostra e il premio annuale includono 62 candidature divise in sei categorie: Architettura, Digitale, Moda, Grafica, Prodotto e Trasporti. Selezionati da un gruppo di designer, curatori e creativi riconosciuti in tutto il mondo, i premi mostrano alcuni dei prodotti, concept e designer più originali e innovativi di oggi.

Lo studio Carmony Groarke ha realizzato l’allestimento della mostra, che ha la forma e la matericità scultorea di una grotta, fatta di polpa di carta spruzzata, chiamata Soundcel. Il design della mostra risponde alle richeste della committenza, che voleva dare un valore significativo all’esperienza spaziale, che doveva unire la grande eterogeneità dei progetti presentati. La galleria è trasformata in una serie di spazi amorfi che si mescolano fluidamente tra loro. Piuttosto che utilizzare pareti espostive e piani d’appoggio, gli spazi curvi e sghembi sono interamente ricavati dai giornali riciclati.
