In Fuzhou’s river belt – one of the first nationwide high-tech industrial zones in China – LYCS Architecture has completed the construction of a mixed-program, office-to-business building development. With a privileged panoramic view of the Wulong River, it is inspired precisely by the dynamism of the body of water.
The building’s soft bevels are outlined by white aluminum panels, leaving a sharp sculptural silhouette against the complex urban backdrop, while vertically extended lines on the gable walls draw the eye upward, enhancing the building’s scale and elegant visual effect. At the same time, these lines effectively conceal ventilation ducts, smoke exhaust pipes and equipment rooms, seamlessly integrating functionality with aesthetics.
Taking into account the site’s building codes – which limit height to 80 meters and width to 65 meters – the design divides and reshapes the building’s nearly 50,000 square meters of volume into two separate towers and a circular podium attached to the base. The obtuse L-shaped structures maximize panoramic views, seamlessly incorporating the natural context into the architecture. The two twisted gable towers are offset on the north and south sides of the site to avoid obstructing each other’s views, framing a transparent landscape corridor in the center, facing the river.
In shaping the Sansong Puyu building, the Chinese firm paid special attention to unifying the dimensions of the tower’s corners. This approach facilitates standardized production of aluminum components, ensuring an efficient construction process and improving the economic and environmental sustainability of the project.
