Ten new electric scooters by Honda

The Japanese firm filed patents in Europe for a new electric scooter with pedals as it prepares to launch a whole e-scooter fleet by 2025.

Honda is one of the biggest scooter manufacturers in the world, mainly due to its popularity in India and other Asian markets.

Despite that, its offering is still lacking in comparison to competitors when it comes to electric two-wheelers. That will change in the next two years, as Honda has announced the intention to bring ten new electric models to the market by 2025. While the company hasn’t announced the specifics of its new vehicles, a new patent filed in Europe gives us a glimpse of what Honda’s next e-moped might look like.

Renderings in the document depict a scooter that looks like a stripped-down version of an SH, with only one seat and no rear sub-frame. The moped detailed in the patent also sports pedals connected to a hub-mounted motor, suggesting that the two-wheeler might also be powered this way.

It’s still unclear what the class of this vehicle will be. The presence of a license plate on the rear fender suggests that, at least in Europe, the two-wheeler could be marketed as a 50-cc equivalent with a top speed of 45km/h.
