At the IAA Mobility Show in Munich, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the Concept EQG, an electric version of its iconic G-Class. The carmaker hasn't shared any details about the future electric version of the boxy off-roader, not giving any hint about power output, range, or battery size. Instead, the Concept EQG focused on the design approach that Mercedes-Benz is following to bring this status-symbol car into the company's electric future. The general boxy-ness of the G-Class design is somewhat preserved, while the two-tone colour option is in line with the look of the first version of Mercedes-Benz' luxury sedan, the EQS. The front grille is lit up with an array of LEDs, and so is the spare tire box in the back.  Designers in Stuttgart have designed the 22" wheels with some lunar rover inspiration in mind, fitting them with the general space oddity theme Mercedes-Benz picked for the EQG marketing campaign. They look as quirky as the space opera video ad Mercedes-Benz made to promote the new EQG, cleverly playing on the concept of retro-futurism.
