Manifesta 12 Palermo: Domus follow up

Domus publishes “Manifesta 12 Guide Book”, and will also collaborate with the Academy of Fine Arts of Palermo to report the best shows and events.

Manifesta 12 Palermo kicks of on June 16th. This year’s European Nomadic Art Biennial is titled “The Planetary Garden. Cultivating Coexistence”, addressing the issues of migration and cohabitation, citizenship and civilization, and crossing the boundaries between art, architecture and design. For almost six months, more than 40 authors conduct research on the territory and develop artistic projects in collaboration with organisations and activists in Palermo. The artistic practices dialogue with the urban territory of the Sicilian capital and with local sensibilities.

Since 90 years, Domus is a place for observation and discussion on the change of our cities. The magazine founded by Gio Ponti supports the Biennale in the making of Manifesta 12 Guide Book, the official catalogue of the event. The book tells the collective journey, the places of the Biennale and the projects developed during the long-lasting summer of Palermo. The publication is edited by Paola Nicolin, curator, teacher and editor-at-large at Domus, and Lisa Mazza, cultural organizer and publications coordinator of Manifesta 12. Domus also collaborates with the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo to recounts the best performances, conferences, events and installations. Photography students, from a course led by Professor Sandro Scalia, accompany the journalists of domusweb.it for a complete report of the inaugural days.
