Distance. A measure dividing two objects, two bodies, in one same place. A foreign measure, difficult to accept and maintain in this to-say-the-least hard and upsetting year. We changed our habits, isolating ourselves from a social life we took for granted, having to reorganise our everyday lives and the ways we relate with each other. We gave up hugs, handshakes, dinners, and dancing. That was what we were used to. Keeping a distance while dancing seems almost inappropriate, nonsensical, so we put dancing aside, both as spectators and as performers. A story in full safety and with no social distancing entitled Corpo di Ballo, L’avventura di Giselle alla Scala (Corps de Ballet. The Adventure of Giselle at the Scala). On Raiplay.
A story about going back to ballet rehearsing for La Scala company, a story about movement, concentration, union, sacrifice and passion for ballet and for art. Stories and ballet, steps and stages towards the creation of a performance of a well-known opera: Giselle. Produced by Panamafilm and Raiplay, in collaboration with Teatro alla Scala and Intesa Sanpaolo, this docuseries follows the dancers in their private and professional lives, from rehearsals to the stage, recounting the beauty of form and movement against the backdrop of an unprecedented historical moment.
