Narrating through fabrics the magic of Venice and its unique light reflecting on the water of the lagoon: with this desire in mind was born the collaboration between the architect Peter Marino and Rubelli, a historic Venetian company that creates, produces and markets fabrics for furniture. With the "Peter Marino for Venetian Heritage" collection, the architect reveals his deep bond with the Serenissima. He was inspired by the colours and textures of one of the greatest painters of the eighteenth century in Venice: Giambattista Tiepolo.
“Venice for me is magical and it aligns with one of my main obsessions: light. I want light in all of my work, and the light on the water in the canals makes me absolutely crazy with joy; I could spend the rest of my life sitting looking at it. Venetian light is entirely unique – you see in that in Venetian paintings, there’s a very different sense. This aqua-colored water changes how everything is reflected and how color is seen,” said Peter Marino.

One of the three silk jacquards in the collection is dedicated to Tiepolo, in which the quilted technique creates a relief effect that makes the fabric vibrate. The other two products are called Marino, whose curved geometries are reminiscent of the rough sea, and Lucente, characterized by irregular waves that interrupt the shine of the silk satin bottom. The initiative has a charitable purpose: part of the sales of "Peter Marino for Venetian Heritage" will support the Venetian Heritage association and its twenty-year activity of restoration of Venetian works of art.
