Space suits for tourists by Virgin Galactic and Under Armour

Richard Branson’s space tourism venture has unveiled a new set of sci-fi looking suits designed with the sports apparel company.

Virgin Galactic, the Virgin subsidiary that will offer suborbital trips to high-paying and adventurous customers, has unveiled the suits that space tourist will wear during their suborbital journeys. Forget the clunky white suits we used to associate with traditional astronauts: Virgin Galactic’s space garments look more like sleek neoprene swimsuits designed by a sci-fi movie costumes director. Tourists on the Virgin’s low-orbit plane, the VSS Unity, will never leave the cabin to wander in the void of space, after all, so all they need is clothes that make them comfortable and fancy enough for the Instagram stories where they’ll brag about their $250.000 ticket. Virgin Galactic has partnered with Under Armour to design and produce the space clothing set, which includes a base layer, outerwear and footwear, all custom tailored to perfectly fit each space tourist that will board on Branson’s suborbital aircraft.
