Ford plans to start selling an all-electric version of its F-150 pickup truck in the United States in 2020. To tease the new EV and its power, the company set up a remarkable marketing stunt, having one of the new trucks pull 10 double decker rail cars over a distance of 1,000 feet. In the video that documents the endeavor, the EV truck can be seen pulling the 10 empty cars and then the same cars loaded each with a regular, fossil-fuel-burning, F150, for a total load of 1.25 million pounds. Ford is keen to specify that this was just a “one-time short event demonstration”, meant to convince the target group of pickup truck customers that an EV version of the F-150 will still be a “built Ford tough” car.
