BMW has announced that the first all-electric version of a Mini, the Mini Cooper SE, will be available next year in March. It’s based on the same electric platform as the i3 and the body shell of the 3-door hatch petrol-based Mini, with a design that falls in line with the typical Mini style. The motor provides184 HP of max output and maximum torque of 270 Nm, to give the car the ability to reach 62mph in 7.3s, while top speed is limited to 93mph, with a 146 miles (235km) range on a single charge.  While still an interesting project, especially from a branding point of view, the new Mini Cooper SE’s specs won’t impress EV fans. Some 2-years old EVs have already better acceleration, while a range of 146 miles on a £27.800 car won’t really cut it, especially with many new and better performing models coming to market during 2019.
