Italian studio Adriano Design has created an exercise bike that tries to steer away from all the usual stereotypes of fitness accessories. It’s called Fuoripista, Italian for “off-road”, and it’s meant to be a piece to “praise and show off” in the patio of a Tuscany villa, or maybe the elegant living room of a Manhattan penthouse, like one would do with a statue or a painting of a famous artist. With its oakwood central frame, the leaned-back stance, the four glass legs and the angled metal handlebar covered in brown leather, Fuoripista reminds indeed of Picasso’s bulls and has nothing to share with the grey and ugly fitness gear that usually ends up hidden in our basements. In the front, the frame ends in a crevice that’s meant to hold a tablet, to track rides with a fitness app or to entertain during a workout.
