Capcom's bizarre retro console

Here’s another entry into the list of all-in-one vintage videogame consoles. And it looks strangely futuristic.

Capcom has announced the release of a new nostalgia-driven vintage console that will come with a collection of 16 old school arcade titles.
As reproducing the old feel of a real cabinet wouldn’t have been easy, Capcom created an hybrid design for its Home Arcade console, which is basically the reproduction of a cabinet control surface, with “competition class” Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT sticks and OBSF buttons. The device connects to a TV via HDMI, it’s powered via micro-USB and it includes a Wi-Fi module to connect to the Internet. Although multiplayer mode won’t be an option, players will be able to battle fellow retrogamers by saving their scores in a “worldwide High Score Leaderboard”, a nice contemporary twist on the arcade scoreboard. Capcom Home Arcade can be pre-ordered now on the company’s website. It will launch in October with a retail price of £199.
