A new school for innovating ceramics

Marazzi Academy is a multi-company project representing the evolution of the training role for a brand and the entire production chain.

Creating a network does not only mean settling business connections in a given territory, but also knowing how to establish deep relationships in which work, knowledge and values are shared. In this way, in addition to a virtuous supply chain, we also generate a community capable of facing future challenges with unity. In order to transfer its corporate values and the skills acquired in over 80 years of work, Marazzi, the Italian group producing ceramic tiles and porcelain stoneware, has chosen to commit itself to training, presenting the new Marazzi Academy.

Inaugurated in May 2011, the Pietro e Maria Marazzi Training Centre has provided over 100,000 hours of teaching, from institutional, technical, IT, linguistic and managerial training to quality, safety and environmental education

"Recent investments, not only by Marazzi but also by the entire sector, have accelerated innovation processes and we are sure that facilitating the transmission of knowledge, going beyond immediate internal use, can represent a vector for future development. For Marazzi, for Emilceramica, the other company in the group actively involved, but also for the district and the ceramic industry," says Mauro Vandini, CEO of the Marazzi Group.

In November 2019 the first training courses of 300 and 500 hours started, with the support of the European Social Fund and the Emilia-Romagna Region, which will issue the qualifications of "Interior Designer expert in the ceramic project" and "Management Technician and Data Analytics". The group also proposes a multi-year course of school-work alternation called project MAD (Marazzi Academy Duale), which will allow 30 students of the Istituto Superiore Alessandro Volta in Sassuolo to learn the technical skills necessary to work in the ceramic sector. Also the MAD project will involve Marazzi Group, Emilceramica and Cerform, in collaboration with local institutions.

"Valuing, expanding, disseminating and rooting skills is extremely important. The challenge we face every day is to put people, their professionalism and their experiences at the centre of our attention," commented Vandini.
