This strap transforms your watch into a smartwatch

Sony launched Wena Wrist in 2015, but until today it was only available in Japan.

Imagine a smartwatch that’s not smart in the face, but in the strap. That could sound odd, at a first view. Actually that's useful because it could provide connected functions to any mechanical watch. So you won't have to give up your grandfather's Vacheron Constantin for an Apple Watch. Wena was first revealed in 2015. It consists of a replacement strap for your watch. A small display under the wrist alerts incoming calls, texts, and other notifications. The strap also integrates NFC for contactless payment and health monitoring. There are two different kind of bands: the rubber one, called “active” (£329), and the “pro” that’s made of metal, in two colours (£399). If can also choose among the Wena official “heads”, if you didn't inherit a watch from your grandfather. Pre-orders are open in the UK.
