The new Atalanta stadium is almost ready in Bergamo

The renovation project of the Gewiss Stadium is nearing completion, combining preservation and innovation.

Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio entrusted De8 Architetti with the renovation of the Gewiss Stadium, a project that further strengthens the collaboration between the club and the firm, which had previously overseen the refurbishment of two stands and the team's training center. Officially launched after Atalanta acquired the stadium in 2017, the project had been in preparation beforehand. A key requirement set by the Bergamo municipality was the preservation of the historic facades and the roof on the west side.

The main focus of the renovation is on the stands behind the goals, but the east stand will also be updated. To reach the anticipated capacity of 24,000 seats, the height of the stands will increase progressively, maintaining a single-tier layout. The exterior structure will be covered with grey ETFE cushions, with subtle black and blue accents. The new public square, spanning over 6,000 square meters, will serve as a key commercial and recreational hub.
