BIG designed the stage for Danish pop trio WhoMadeWho’s world tour

The architectural studio developed an experimental set with a large suspended inflatable orb at the center.

This is not the first time that BIG has experimented in the field of inflatable objects. They had already done so in 2016 with the mobile pavilion SKUM (which means foam in Danish) and in 2018 with The Orb, a huge inflatable and reflective sphere for the Burning Man festival. The project for the stage of the world tour of the Danish pop group WhoMadeWho – composed of Tomas Høffding, Tomas Barfod, and Jeppe Kjellberg – seems to recall the latter work.

The centerpiece of the stage design is indeed an inflatable sphere serving as a canvas for 3D video projections. Lights and controllable images have been integrated into the sphere, which can also reflect the surrounding environment. Below, each band member is surrounded by a futuristic silver pod, and in the background, a large LED screen frames the scene.

Furthermore, with the use of artificial intelligence, the creative teams of Flora&faunavisions, the EyeMix studio in Los Angeles, and animator Christopher Mulligan have animated the stage with immersive visuals capable of responding in real time to the band's musical performance.
