Porsche unveiled the Mission X, its latest all-electric concept hypercar. The design takes a few cues from the Porsche 918 Spyder but adds exaggerated details and a more radical approach to performance. The company said that the battery would be based on a 900-volt system if the car reached production. I would also double the charging speed of the Taycan Turbo S, suggesting that the Mission X’s road-legal version could be the fastest-charging Porsche ever. The carmaker’s engineers positioned the car battery bank centrally behind the seats in an “e-core layout,” akin to classic mid-engine cars.
The car doors create an open-sky effect by sweeping forwards and up, while the two-seater interior and dashboard remind of a fighter jet cockpit. The car features a steering yoke instead of a wheel and an 80s-inspired interface design for the dashboard modules. The Mission X sports a low wheelbase, similar to the 918 Spyder, and also includes slightly staggered 20-inch (front) and 21-inch wheels for improved aerodynamics. The rear “PORSCHE” badge and red LED strips protrude for a 3D-design touch that adds to the futuristic flair of the vehicle.
The Mission X follows Porsche’s previous 2015 electric concept, the Mission E, which eventually evolved into the Taycan two years later.
