Future-forward offices by HWKN and BIG in London’s Canada Water Dockside

Informed by post-pandemic needs and changes, the building meets the demands of a rebalanced relationship with work.

The New York-based practice founded by Matthias Hollwich, HWKN, has been selected to design the new landmark building in the urban development planned for the London’s Canada Water area, Canada Water Dockside. HWKN will collaborate with BIG, Art-Invest Real Estate UK, and the local community, to complete one of the three volumes of the master plan.

Inspired by post-pandemic needs, the architecture firm has designed an office building that meets the common demands of a rebalanced relationship with work and easy access to nature. Located right next to the Canada Water Library by CZWG architects, the 12-story-tall building provides new-generation offices and amenities, embodied by a publicly accessible first floor where people can eat, drink, sit and relax.

“Our building suggests the atmosphere of a vacation resort while creating a place that fosters life choices along with focused productivity, corporate culture, and personal communication,” says Hollwich, HWKN’s founder.
