On the occasion of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Games, global television coverage will be enriched with a privileged look at Italy's landscape through the so-called “Beauty Cameras,” a system of twelve remotely coordinated cameras designed to transform the host territories’ scenery into a series of iconic, moving postcards.
The project stems from a collaboration between Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 and the Olympic Broadcasting Service (OBS) – the International Olympic Committee body responsible for television, radio, and digital coverage – with the explicit aim, as the name suggests, of complementing traditional sports broadcasting with a visual narrative that highlights the cultural and landscape value of these locations.
Preparatory work began several years ago, during the Games’ planning phase, with targeted site inspections across the regions involved. This scouting process led to the selection of several strategic and emblematic viewpoints, best suited to hosting cameras designed to capture wide, evocative views of monuments, cities, and natural scenes.
In Milan, four cameras will frame some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including Piazza Duomo, Castello Sforzesco, and the Arco della Pace. In Val di Fiemme, one position will overlook Cavalese and the Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, while in Anterselva the lens will open onto the entire valley. Additional cameras will be installed in Venice, Verona, Bormio, and Livigno, offering a comprehensive panorama of urban and alpine settings. Cortina d’Ampezzo, meanwhile, will be portrayed from two perspectives: one in the heart of the town, framing Piazza Angelo Dibona and its bell tower, and another from Ra Valles, with sweeping views over Cortina and the surrounding Dolomites.
