TeamLab designed an interactive installation for the Sagaya restaurant in Tokyo which serves seasonal dishes including Black Wagyu Beef from Japan and seasonal vegetables. “Worlds Unleashed and then Connecting” is a dining space limited to eight guests a day, where it is possible to enjoy a unique immersive dining experience.

When a dish is placed on the table, the scenic world contained within the dish is “revealed” with projections on the table and into the surrounding space. For instance, a bird painted on a ceramic dish is ‘released’, interacting with other elements. The environment is strongly modified by the diners’ interaction and behavior: a tiny bird might lay on someone’s hand unless this one is moved. The restaurant’s menue and presentation changes every month, catching the seasons.
