Five “loose projects”

Through the use of fabric, five designers and architects have been called by Colleoni Arte Gallery to reinterpret what Alessandro Mendini used to refer to as “loose projects”.

“Super-objects” is an exhibition project launched by Colleoni Arte Gallery during Miart 2017, where five designers and architectural firms in the Italian contemporary landscape have been asked to reinterpret typical elements of the living through fabrics.

Martinelli Venezia Studio, Servomuto, Vi+M studio, Matilde Cassani and Co.arch have created “loose projects” as unique pieces, just like in Alessandro Mendini’s editorial entitled “Praise of fabric” on Domus 626, where he exalted the “the sweet elegance of loose projects”, thinking of “soft rooms and facades, only made of fabric, as well as arches, statues, furniture and cars, besides clothes, mattresses, tableclothes, curtains, shields and airplanes, all made of fabric”.

The aim was to create an emotional and cultural connection between the object and its user. Establishing a new emotional value through chromatic hues, tactile sensations, plastic forms and the wise handling of distinctive materials.
