Contrasting combinations

Cappellini is presenting several new partnerships – with Bakery Studio, Nendo, Junpei & Iori Tamaki and Werner Aisslinger – and furnishings that play on contrasting forms and materials. #MDW2017

“Contrasting combinations” is the Cappellini claim for its new collection, presented in the Milan showroom. One example of this being Chair2 by Bakery Studio, an elegant coupling of fine wood and matt-painted tubular metal. The seat is supported by a double tubular structure that joins at the back and separates at the legs, with the wood at the front and the metal to the rear. Contrasts also appear in the Flower bookcase by Junpei & Iori Tamaki – another new entry in the Cappellini team – with a psychedelic effect generated by combining two walls of cylindrical ash wood coloured with aniline.

A desk and four consoles designed by Nendo with a fun cone-shape and round opening seems, on the other hand, to reference the cartoon world. Another partnership, with Werner Aisslinger (and Tina Bunyaprasit), produced the Hobo Home sofa, modular and with soft rounded lines.
