The artists’ works all suggest a connection with corresponding objects of everyday use. The doors by Patrizia Giambi in collaboration with Opifici Dal Re, and Gal Weinstein’s disintegrating kitchen, display an urge to un-inhabit rather than to inhabit: doors that do not protect, nor separate, a kitchen where you can’t cook, and an alcove that offers no privacy. Instead of conveying a reassuring sense of a welcoming home, the works reveal their inability to function, showing the fundamental divergence between the meanings behind the pieces and thier actual use.
