Raw Color at the Aram

During London Design Festival 2016, The Aram Gallery presented “Blend”, a solo exhibition by Raw Color, supported by Creative Industries Fund NL, that will be on show until the 29th of October. 

The Eindhoven-based interdisciplinary design studio show a range of products, experiments and installations that relate to its research in colour. The title “Blend” also refers to the various media across which the studio works, from photography to textile, interactive and print. The third floor of the gallery is filled with colorful animated and interactive installations designed between 2012 and 2016. 

The Fans form a choreography where colored fans turn on and off blending the colour of their rotating vanes, while Chromatology is an installation based on paper shredders, each one connected to a motion sensor and fed by coloured paper rolls. The machines are triggered by the pure presence of the viewer in front of it allowing to activate each machine separately and influencing the colour mixing of the falling paper rain once in movement. 

Among the new pices Graphic Time is a series of abstract kinetic clocks that are graphic interpretations of functional time pieces. A diversity of prints, perforations and colours create a visual treat of movement and ever changing compositions. Paper planes, on the other hand, is a series of photographs where flat sheets of papers are transformed into square and rectangular volumes. The individual characteristics of the materials create shadows on solid surfaces and blend on the transparent ones creating three dimensional compositions.
