Maurer: The atelier / 99

At the Milan Design Week 2014, Ingo Mauer imagined an artist's workshop in the Krizia's space with large canvases hung on the walls to present an effect of light, shadow and reflections.

This year Ingo Maurer has imagined an artist's workshop with large canvases hung on the walls to present the latest lamps. One of the main collections is The Humblies – Beyond Design: sheets of gilded paper hung from a slender metal structure that create an effect of light, shadow and reflections.

"I think of gold as materialised light" reveals Ingo Maurer. Light is created thanks to a pair of wires hooked to the metal structure that act as a conductor. Dew drops and Cash+Carry Luxury meanwhile show a radical and essential use of LEDs: a simple transparent film in synthetic material with integrated LEDs fixed to a metal rod that can be adjusted as desired or hung looks like a luminous fabric drape.
Finally Whisper Wind is the last step of Ingo's experimentation with organic LEDs: a luminous object made up of 25 flexible OLEDs by Konica Minolta.
