Monica Förster: Mimic / 14

Combining modules of different sizes with alternative backs, Monica Förster’s sofa for De Padova – presented during Milan Design Week – aims to adapt to any setting, as its name suggests.

Monica Förster: Mimic
Mimic is a new soft furnishing designed by Monica Förster for De Padova and named after the mimic octopus, noted for its unique capacity to adapt to the various colours of the underwater environment.
It is based on an idea that Monica Förster developed for De Padova with the aim of producing a new kind of modular sofa.

For creating designer settings and enabling any kind of space to be given a contemporary feel, Mimic has a simple shape and an intrinsic movement created by the softness and the detailing of the seat and back cushions.
The combination of modules of different sizes and alternative backs makes it possible to use Mimic to create endless different seating possibilities, from more standard ones to maxi formats or with footrests, making it an item of soft furnishing suitable for either home or contract use.
